The British steamship Heiloong reports that she left Tamsui on the 29th ultimo, Amey on the 2nd, and Swatow on the 4th. From Tamsui to Amoy had fresh south-west winds and cloudy weather. From Amoy to Swatow had fresh weit winds and overcast sky. From Swatow to Hong- 'kong had fresh south-west winds and cloudy weather. In Amoy, the steamship Almora, H.M.S. Mutine, and Chinese revenue cruiser Lingfeng In Swatow, the steamships · Phra Chom Klao and Glenfruin.
The British steamship Sungkiang reports that the left Tientsin at 3 am, and Tau at noon on the 23rd ultimo. Experienced ight south- cast winds and fog to Chefoo. Leit Chefoo on the 27th at 4 p.m. Experienced moderate south- west winds and fog to south-east Promontory: thence to Showleshan had fresh cast winds and heavy rain, and thence to arrival at Amoy at 6- a.m. on the 1st instant, had fresh south-west winds and fine weather. Left Amoy the same day at 6 p.m. arrived at Swatow at 8 am. on
the 2nd. Had light south-west winds and clear
weather during passage:
The American mail steamship City of Peking reports that she left San Francisco on the 4th utta, at 3 10pm, Honolulu on the 12th at 5.4pm Kekohama on the 28th at 4.13 .m.) arrived here this morning at 6 o'clock. Weather an oyage generally good and wind light; exceptions were on the 5th and 6th had north-west- gales and very heavy seas on the California coast; on the 25th and 26th bad west-south- west gales and torrents of rain on the coast of Japan. From Yokohama down, heavy rain storms and very thick dirty weather with wind north. north-east, veering to south-west, by south by way of east and blowing a fresh gale. On the 30th,
in the Van Dieman's Straits, it being very thick, was obliged to step engine for a light up: unable to see half a mile. From Van Dieman's Straits had fresh to strong south-south-west to south-west winds and after entering the Eastern Sca bad fine weather and fresh south-west mon- soon into Hongkong, Experienced strong currents from the north-east; detained outside 8 hours awaiting daylight,
