STATUS

Business to-day has been almost entirely confined to China Sugars, which for some reason or other not quite apparent to ordinary intelligence are still in strong Shanghai demand at the high rates quoted. For cash shares have changed hands at as high as 253 and for forward delivery transfers have been arranged at 261 for August Banks have and 203 for September. been rather freely inquired after, but nothing reliable has been reported. The attempt to "hear" Land Investments 'continues, but so far without conspicuous success, the number of bona fide "sellers on the market being limited. In other stocks there are no changes to chronicle.
