Cyril Flower, the Gladstonian member for Luton, considered the handsomest man in the House of Commons, was thrown from his 1 horse to-day and seriously injured. The accident was caused by n dog snapping at the heels of his horse. Flower fell, and one foot being caught in the stirrup he was dragged a consider able distance, and hit on the forehead by the heels of the horse. Flower inherited a large fortune and married one of the Rothschild heiresses,
It is asserted that the recent visit of Count Bismarck to England, ostensibly in the "purauit of a political mission, was really for the purpose of marrying, a relative of Lord Londonderry, I however, resulted in a complete failure, and the engagement is off.

VIENNA, April 213.
There was serious rioting in this city to-day arising out of the strike of tram-cardrivers. Work men in sympathy with the strikers blocked the streets and overcame the police. Cavalry was called out to quell the disorder and many persons were injured and a large number arrested.
SUAKIM, 21st April,
A force of Soudanese to-day attacked and defeated a party of Egyptians from Suakim, who were building a fort at Hallalb. The Egyptians, who lost ten killed and wounded, were forced to take refuge on the steamer Agami and have returned to Suakinį.
ST. PETERSBURG, 21st April. The Imperial family has returned to St. Peters- burg from Gatschina. Extra precautions were taken for their safely.
More arrests have been made of artillery officers concerned in the Nihilist plot at Zeurich,

Rioting in connection with the strike of train carmen was renewed here to-day. The strikers attacked cars and succeeded in smashing many of them. The cavalry were again called out and a charge was made upon the rioters, many of whom were wounded. About 100 strikers were

The Dobrudscha is a slice of Turkey, at the mouth of the Danube which was bestowed in 1878 by Russia upon Roumania as a set-off for the Bessarabian district on the opposite side of the river, wrested by the Czar from that kingdom, The country is flat and marshy, and its acquisi- tion implied a loss rather than a gain.
It is reported that the French Senate is in possession of fall proofs of a Boulangist plot against the Senate.
The Belgianrailway officials assert that General Boulanger's luggage when he was fleeing from Paris included several boxes of gold coins, and a quantity of silver plate and jewellery,
Sir E. B. Malt, the British Ambassador in Berlin, and Mr. John A. Kasson, the American Minister, reciprocated the sentiments expressed hy Count Herbert Bismarck as to the desire for a permanent setilement of the question.
Mr. Kasson hinted that the United States hoped that the question would be settled on the basis of non-interference with autonomy in Samoa, and the independence of the group.
The Conference, which conducts it proceedings with the strictest secrecy, adjourned to Await the report of the committees.

A terrible railway disaster has occurred nár the city of Hamilton, on the Ontario line, in Upper Canada. A traih caught fire, and 18 of the passengers were burned to death before they could be liberated from the burning carriages. Twelve others were badly injured.
The Czar of Russia has ordered the building of two gigantic ironclads for the Russian Navy. At a meeting of 2000 shareholders of the Comptoir d'Escompte de Paris a resolution was passed dismissing the directors. It was agreed toliquidate the institution and form a new com- pany. Extreme confusion prevailed at the meeting, and the official liquidator was mobbed.

With, farther reference to the wreck of the Wandering Minstrel, we note from the San Francisco Chronicle that a Naval Court of Inquiry was held at Honolulu on March 1ath to inquire into the circumstances attending the lass of the vessel.
The Court was composed of Lieut. Webb of her Britannic Majesty's ship Cormorant; president; Mr. T. Rain Walker, British Vice-Consul, and Capt›in Bowers of the British barque Royal Tar. After a full investiga- tion Captain Walker was completely vindicated. the Court justifying his position in relation to the loss of the barque, and finding that every- thing possible had been done to secure lier safety.
On being interviewed by a reporter from the Morning Cail, Mr. Alexander S. Murray. manager in San Francisco of the South British Fire and Marine Insurance Company, is stated to have said:
