29th March, 1889.—At 10 am,
STATION,
WuliTOSERCk Dom Tokio Negaki, Shanghai
To-day's business has been confined entirely to settlements. Punjoms have fluctuated in a most extraordinary fashion; phong sales were made this forenoon at as low as
35, but a reaction set in and the quotation was rushed up to 45, eventually closing at 42. China and Manilas, after changing. hands at 150, dropped to 140, sales being booked at the latter rate. The Rope Company dead-lock continues, although various rumours of a settlement have been current during the afternoon-all of them of an interested and more or less unre- llable character. The Steam Launch Company swindle has not yet expladed, but signs are not wanting of the icevitable collapse. We may be in a position to deal more fully with all these matters in our next Issue.
