TO-DAY.

THE SHARE MARKET,

5 o'clock..

Business has been quiet to-day, and sincke generally show a wenker tendency. Chiba Sugars after having changed hands at as high as 194. dropped Inte In the afternoon to 190, and closed weak at that rate. Luzons have remained nominally at 94, but no transactions have heen reported. There were sales of Punjonis this morning at gå for cash and at io for December, but later in the day cash business was done at 10, and "the stock closed with buyers at that figure. The Wharf and Godown Cols shares have been placed at 61 for the 30th instant and G2 for the end of the year, and remain firm at these quotations. Business has been put through in the Songei Koyah Planting Co's scrip at from 50 to 47 per share, and there are further shares on the market at the last mentioned price. Steamboats have suffered the inevitable reaction, and are now on offer at 219 for the end of the month. Nothing else requiring special remark has come under our observation.

NOTICE.

Silk and Fire Crackers

THE Undersigned respectfully inform the Foreign Merchants in Canton that for the past twenty years they have carried on business in slik piece-goods in Sai-Hing Street, Canton, under the chop signification of "TSUN SHING,” and venture to believe that the superior quality of their goods have given universal satisfaction to their customers. In order to avoid possible. imposition they have considered it indispensablə to prefix to their designation the surname of the head of the firm, "CHAN" and henceforth the Firm's signification, in the silk branch, will be known as "CHAN TSUN SHING,

Further, in respect of the Fire Cracker branch, which hitherto has been carried on under the

itle of "MAEN SHING," under which we have. acted as sole dealers in Canton for many years and during this period our chop, by reason of" the superior quality of the ingredients we employ As well as the first class character of our manu- facture, has maintained its pre-eminent position in the markets of the United States of America but lately humerous fraudulent - Imitations of our goods have been attempted, which, has necessitated, in the interests of the public, our establishing a new Fire Cracker brand that will hereafter be known as the "CONSTITUTION" Cracker. It will be recognised by our old catablished mark underneath, viz., No. 1 Golden Dragon chop and our new prefixed tille "CHAN- MAKN SHING" at the bottom of the label of our Fire Crackers.

CHAN TSUN SHING, for Silk Branch, CHAN MAEN SHING, for Fire Cracker Branch.

N.B.-Fire Crackers without our brand as

above, will not be genuine.
