The operator who has roko jaken this most uncertain of all local stocks under his special protection came down like a wolf on the fold,' and as there were really only a very few shares in the market, it was an easy job to run them up 'to 8a for the end of the month, on which conditions' business to a small extent, is -stated to have been done. So far as we can "gather from usually well informed sources there is actually nothing to justify this Luzon "bcom;" it is nothing more nor less than a speculative venture' which, so far, has been singularly successful. done at 73 per share and Docks at Hongkong Observatory, 25th October, 1888. 34 per cent, premium, and both these stocks' are wanted at these quotations. A few lots of China and Manilas have been transferrer at 120) and there are still buyers. China Sugars have changed hands at 184 for cash, and some "time" business at 180 for. February has been reported. Other quotations speak for themselves, but it is perhaps as well to point out that the 45 per cent, discount quoted for the scrip of the Austin Arms Hotel Co. is merely on the $20 paid up--that is to say business has been done at $11 per share.
