Their Imperial Majesties the Emperor and Empress have announced their intention of visting Yokosuka on the 15th instant in order to be present at the ceremony of Launching the Takao Kan at the Yokosuka Shipbuilding Yard. Their Imperial Majesties will leave the Akasaka Palace at 7 30a.m. for Shimbashi, and after short stay at the station, will leave by special train at 8.15 a.m. for Yokohama, where they will arrive at 9 a.m. Alter resting for a short time at the official buildings of the Imperial Household at Yokohama, their Majesties will leave by a war-vessel n19.30 am. for Yokosuka, where they will arrive at it am. The steamship Formosa left for Tamsui on the 16th taking about 200 coolies who have been enlisted by the Governor of Formosa's emissaries to go and assist in subduing the savages. I believe a lot more will be despatched shortly as the 'recruiting officers are still busy here.
Ambet daring case of piracy and murder took place in our harbour on the night of the 17th instant. It appears that a Chinaman who had arrived by the steamer Cheang Hock Kian from Singapore, with about $2.000, his savings for the last 15 years, hired a sampan to take him and "his effects to his home, and when the simpan arrived opposite the North end of Kulangsoo, she was attacked by another boat, the occupants of which killed the unfortunate Chinaman, cutting his threat, nearly severing the head from the budy, and then decamping with their plunder. So far no arrests have been made,
