TO-DAY.
THE SHARE. MARKET.
5 o'clock.
A fair amount of business has been "repórted to-day, and stocks generally show „Energased firagnea. Sales of Banks have "beam' jait "through at 158 and 159 per cent. premism for cash, but some shares are on offer at the latter quotation. A few small lots of China Trader have changed hands 'at. '73; and there are Turther sellers. Chiñesu. Insurakices are now wanted at 180 per share. Docks have been done at 37 for Suptember, and there are small huyers fag cash a235. An improvement in. Steamboats has also to be noted, business. baying been arranged for cash at 207 and 208 and also að 211and 219 for delivery on August 31st Transfers of Ching Sugars at 168 and th9 have been reported, and there were inquiries late in the, afternoon for shares at 170.
The most remárkable
movement in connection with this stock. however, was for forward delivery, business being done at 162 for January. These incomprehensible transactions, we should imagine, are without precedent in the his- tory of our local Share Market. Sales of Lizons at qi have been booked, but not to any grual extent. Other quotations are unchanged.
