THIS DAY.
Noon. Nothing of special importance has trans- pired on the Stock Exchange this morn ing A trifling business has been reported in several stocks, which, however, scarcely merits special reference. Steamboats have been negociated at 50 per share premium and remain in demand at that rate, buyers ruling the market. China Sugars still form the principal medium of investment. The quotation for this scrip has been fluct oating a little, apparently without any par: ticular cause. For cash, sales have been booked at 134, and latterly at 135, the stock closing firm, with buyers, at the higher figure. On time a fair amount of business has been transacted at 137 for De- cember 31st. Banks remain slightly weak, with selfers at 186 per cent. premium. Union Insurances show a considerable de- preciation; a number of shares being on offer at 625, a reduction of 25 on previous quotation. Nothing else has come under our observation.
4 o'clock p.m.
Since noon Docks have changed hands at 59 premium for the end of the year, and there are further buyers at that figure. China Sugars are decidedly firmer. A fair amount of business has been done at 135 for cash, and 138 for December 31st No other transactions came under our no- tice.
