it was inevitable that the quotations should gradually right themselves; but this is no real sign of weakness, nor need it be regarded as such by permanent investors.

No business in Banks has been reported, but the stock is fairly firm at appended rates. The only change in Insurance stocks is in Cantons,Japanese, and 30 Chinese which are freely offered at the reduced rate of 140 per share, Docks have changed hands at 53 per cent. premium, and probably a number of shares could be obtained at that price. Steamboats are now offered at 30 per share prestany with out securing purchasers. China Sugars are in much better odour, with buyers at 192. A few sales of Luzons at 80 have been re- ported, and there are still sellers. The Hongkong Ice Company's scrip is weaker than it has been lately, sellers offering to come to terms at 175. No other transac- tions of importance have come under our observation..
