AMOY RACES,
[FROM OUR SPECIAL, CORRESPONDENT]
Astov, January roth, The Annual Meeting of the Amoy Race Club commenced on Monday last in beautiful weather and under most favorable auspices. There was a large attendance, the whole of the European residents of the settlement being present, in cluding a good sprinkling of ladies. The Tastal of Amoy, attended by a numerous retinue, honored the meeting with his presence on each one of the three days, and amongst other strangers were-the-officers-of-the German, man-of-war Stesch, the Hongkong cricketing team, and several visitors from Foochow and Shanghai.

THE STRANDING OF THE...
STEAMER “WUHU,”
The objection, a most frivolous and ridiculous one, was investigated by the Stewards, and very, properly over-ruled. The half mile spin- for the Parsee Cup ended in favor of the old local "crack" Etoile du Nord after a close race, and then Mr. Hutchings scored his first win on the once celebrated Strathavon, beating Huntsman and Pedometer after a nicely ridden race on the part of "Harry," Only two pontes faced the starter for the Haikwan Cup, Forager of course being considered a sure thing against a penalised subscription griffin. As is often the case with great certainties the pot boiled over, Mr. Brandt fairly riding Mr. Greaves out of the prize. This concluded a really capital day's sport.

We announced on Monday, after the arrival here from Hankow of the steamer Swal, that the Wuhu, belonging to the China Navigation Company, a steamer of 1,600 tons register, and commanded by Captain Mackay, had gone ashore on the Langshan Crossing.
