THIS DAY.

Noon. Business in shares has been compara tively quiet this morning, and very few transfers have been reported. Banks are rather weaker, with cash sellers at 160 per cent premium; and there are also shares on offer at 170 for the end of the year. Canton Insurances have changed hands at the extraordinary price of $140 per share, which means 180 per cent. premium. A small lot of Chinese Insurances have been negotiated at 230. Hongkong Fires have L ́again improved their market status, busi- ness having been put through at 1,110, an Increase of 20 on previous quotation. The Dock Company's scrip stands weak, with sellers, at, 55 per cent, premium ; but, so far as we know, no actual sales have taken place this morning. Some time busi- ness in Luzons has been reported at 117 for the end of January. There are sellers of the stock at 116 for December 31st.
