Noon: Up till noon no share transactions of any importance had been reported: Banks are very firm with cash buyers at 169 per cent. premium, and probably a higher rate will be paid in the course of the day, as the. stock shows a decidedly upward tendency. Canton Insurances are in request at the in- creased rate of 130 per share; but there are apparently no shares on the market at that price. Docks remain steady at 55 per ceat, premium.

The British steamship Ningpo reports left Shanghai on the 3rd instant. Had light variable winds and fine weather.
The British steamship, Canton reports from Amoy, and Swatow on the sth instant.. Had calms and light Northerly breeze.
The British steamship Thales reports left Swatow on the 5th instant. Had light Westerly winds and fine weather. In Swatow the steam- ships Too-nan, Veh-sin, Camelot, Gervase, and H.G.M. ship Elizabeth.
The British steamship Japan reports left Cal. cutton the 16th November; left Sand Heads on the 17th arrived at Penang on the zand, and left again on the 23rd arrived at Singapore on the 25th, and left again on the 28th. After leaving St
Singapore experienced strong N.E. mon- soon with high sea up to the Macclesfield Bank; from thence to arrival had moderate N.E. mon.
soon and fine weather. At 5 pm. on the sth in- stant sighted a vessel on fire and stood towards her. She proved to be a large junk burnt to the water's edge; there were no signs of any of the crew about, so resumed our course again,
