TO THE EUITOR or tim "HoxcrosŮ, TALEGRAPH.”........

SIR-Your sensible appeal to the inhabitants of this Colony on behalf of the homeless and distressed natives of Manila, which I read in your esteemed paper in its issue of the ayth inst., will be thankfully acknowledged by those whose sufferings inspired you with such charitable feel ings, as well as by any sympathizer with the ¡numerous victims of so many scourges.

As their interpreter, I feel myself bound to tender to you the warmest thanks, whatever

may be the results of your kind endeavours.

As for myself, should any one feel disposed to contribute to the relict of the unfortunate people of Manila, I should be happy in forwarding to the proper authorities any sum eritrusted to me. with the name of the offerer.

I have the honour to be,

Mr. Paul's string were all on the course, but with the exception of a quarter "pow" between the dark grey and Mr. Sassoon's dan, in which the grey showed the better speed, they were also kept very quiet. Methusalem and Nebuchadnezzar galloped in much improved form, Malcriado and Kelpie also had a smart burst down the straight, the black holding the other quite safe all the way, The Military contingent were quietly at work, the dun only trotting, whilst Silverstreak in the hands of "the Major" showed himself an ex- ceedingly nice mover.
