THIS DAY. -
Banks
Noon. Share business has been fairly brisk this morning, although there are few transfers ́of much importance to chronicle.
are very firm al 147 per cent. premium, cash, and there are buyers both at this quotation, and at, equivalent rates for the end of December, January, and February, Holders, however, do not appear particular- ly anxious to sell, so that actual business in this stock has been something very like a deadletter. Canton Insurances have chang ed hands at 105—a slight advance on pre vious rate-and further sales in Hongkong Fires have been booked at 1075. Docks. show a marked depreciation, holders offer- ing to sell at 56 per cent, premiuin, either for ́ cash, or the end of the month, without in- ducing investors to come to terms. A
· further fall seems certain, that is, if market operations may be relied on. Luzons are steadily progressing in public favor, the rate now standing at 111, with buyers and no sellers. Probably a higher price will be tendered in the course of the day. No other stocks require special reference.
"'
4 o'clock p.m.; The only transaction, this afternoon worthy of notice wak a plunge in Banks at 150 for the end of the year. Other quota- tions remain unchanged.
