The British bark fraz reports left New chung on the 12th instant. Had light NW winds to Barten Island: thence light S.W. wind breeze to Shantung; thence Easterly and N.E. for two days, and fresh N.E. wind to arrival. On the 16th spoke the bark lens, from Chefoo to Amey, off S.E. Promontory.
The British steamship Meumuir reports left Sydney on the 29th April at 2.30 pun., and after calling at Townsville, Cooktown, Thursday is land, arrived in Port Darwin at p.. on the 11th, and left again at 9.30 pm. on the 13th, and arrived in Hongkong at 8.10 p.m. on the 23rd. The British steamship Belgie reports left San Francisco on the 19th April at 4.79 p. LETTERS FOR THE UNITED STATES BY SAILING Sum.
When it is desired to forward letters to the United States by a sailing ship which is not noti fied as carrying a mail, it is only necessary to post the letters in the ordinary way, marked with the name of the ship, and prepaid to cents per half ounce as usual. The Post Office then undertakes the duty of obtaining notice of depar ture and despatching the correspondence. It is requested that the letters be posted if possible at least one day before the date fixed for sailing.
