Stock Exchange to-day, the departure of the outward and the arrival of the inward French mails almost monopolising the at- tention of traffickers in share. transactions, however, have come under our notice. By latest Shanghai advices we oli- serve that Yangtsze Insurances have slightly depreciated, the shares being quoted at Taels 885, a reduction of 15 on previous quotation.. Hongkong Fires are weaker than has been the case for some time past, sellers offering to deal at 925. and we know of one special transaction booked at 920. A few small lots of Docks have changed hands for $1 per cent, pre- mium, cash, and at the same rate more shares could be obtained. No business has been reported in Banks; but the stock is rather firmer, with buyers, at 11 per cent, premium, Hotels show a marked depreciation, the scrip being on the market at 195 per share, without leading

to business. Luzons are steadier than when we last wrote, a demand to a limited extent existing for the stock at 10 per cent, premium; whilst Sugars, on the other hand, are again. weaker, with sellers at 15. A small business in Ices has been put through at 131, and at this quotation the stock is quite firm. Bakery shares are in demand at the increased rate of Go per share; but there are apparently none for sale at present.
