We hear that the King-chow, Captain Love, has been purchased by M. Geo. Mclain, and is to be converter into a hulk for service at Chin- kiang in connection with his line of steamers,

The amal inspection of the Buffs by His Excellency Major General sargent, CB, took place early this morning on the Garrison Parate Granel. At about six o'clock, the various com pagies of the Regiment scattered over the different gatonments converged, by companies, towards A commm centre on the Parade Ground, where they formed up for regimental inspection, as a preliminary measure. This being concluded, the regiment was formed into line, open order, receive the General, who arrived about half past sis, accompanied by his Aldo-de-Camp, Licut- enant Allen, Major Cardew, Assistant Military Secretary, Captain Bury, Brigade Major, and Lieutenant Barclay, Fort Adjutant. As His Ex cellency arrived on the grund, the Regiment presented arms, the General salute being at the sanc time played by the Band. The General, with his staff, immediately proceeded to the top of the line, dawn the front of which His Excellency slowly rode, and then up the line by the rear, the famous regimental slow march of the Buffs, "The men of Kent" being played the while. The Regiment was then formed into quaster column, and the Band moved into the centre of the ground, as a preparatory measure to the urch past. The fieneral and his staff having taken up a position near the saluting base, the Buffs, to the familiar music of their own regi mental march, marched past in colamu down the hill, in capital form. The dressing was ex- cellently kept, presenting quite a contrast to the last occasion of their being inspec- ted by Lieutenant-General Donovan. when they laboured under the disadvantage of mar, ching past to the time of a regimental march their own. Arrived at the bottom of the parade ground, the victors in many a hard fought field right abouted and tramped up the hill in the same first classstyle, this time in quater column. They then dubled down the hill, still keeping their dressing well, the allowance being made for the tendency of bodies of men in rapid motion to defect from

he straight line. The Regiment was then rheefed into line, when the men were put through the manual exercise by Lieutenant-Colonel Hob. son, and also tiring exercise-front rank kneel-stay here will be longer than anticipated, owing ing One volley was tired, the simultaneous clicks of the hanimers of the rißes falling upon the tympanum of the car as though but one trigger had been pulled, which speaks well for the chiciency of the Regiment in volley siring. The corps was then put through Review, or bayonet exercise, by Major Harrison, first in slow time, when the men waited for the word of command, and then in quick, or the men's own time. This latter exercise was performed with great hamony and precision, the guards and points being made as if by one man, and the "beating the attack, when the men give a simultaneous stamp on the ground I will be seen from an advertisement that the with one foot as they come to the guard, being duties of Consul for sweden and Norway have done as well as we ever remember seeing The been handed over to Mr. Henry de Courcy Regiment, still handled by Major Harrison, having Forbes, as Mr. F. Captain Howarth was then ordered to the front to exhibit his skill, Captains Hackliouse and Davis, and Licuts. Holme, Chippindall, Hughes, Patten son, Hundry, Jarrett and D'Aeth, following in suc- cession to display their military knowledge, not on the tended field, but on the Garrison Parade Ground Fiting by companies, preparing to give 4 warm reception to cavalry should they be daring enough to approach the serried ranks, form- ing imo hollow square, and sundry other evolutions too numerous to detail, constituted the remainder of the movements executed, the Lieutenants put ting the men through Company drill. We should say, without pretending to lay any claim to the refe of military critic, not having yet received our baptism of fire on the field, but hoping to ere we yet close our eyes on this busy scene, though we wish it to be distinctly understood that we do not ambition the "breast expanding for the ball" part of the business, that the drill and movements altogether were carried out in a manner reflect ing great credit on the Regiment at large,-upon the men for their steady and soldierlike bearing, and the precision with which they executed every thing they were called upon to do, and oflicers for the high state of efficiency to which they have succeeded in bringing the Regiment. Company drill being finished, the corps was formed into quarter colunan in front of the right Company, near Queen's Road, when General sargent appproached and asked the men if they had any complaints to make, observing that should they have any, they were to attend at the Orderly Room at half past ten, when he would investigate them. This is a formality at annual inspections, but the bringing complaints, we are not mistaken, is attended with the dis- advantage that if they are considered frivolous, The O. and O. s. 5.
