Commercial.

THIS DAY, Fáčí g., Stock Exchange allairs süll remain ex- „reedingly quiet and uninteresting. With the single exception of a few sales of Docks at 53 per cent, premium for cash, and 5.4 for the end of the present month, not a single noteworthy transaction has læeen reported, Dorks are very firm indeed a strong le mand for the serip at 53 not having been supplied, anil there is every indication that a higher rate will be paid. Banks are on offer at 114; but holders decline to deal at a point less, or a fairly large number of shares might be placed without difficulty, Chinese Insurances are still on the down- ward lingoffers to sell at 200 failing to in- duce buyers to craze to terms. There are also sellers of Hongkong Fires at 9321. who have hitherto been unable to find cus- tomers. Steamboats remain nominally at 231 per share premium; but Hotels are very firm at 109. no shares at that rate being procurable. A slight depreciation has taken place in the stock of the China Sugar Refining Company, a number of shares having been placed on the market at 165 without leading to business. The Ice Company's stuck is very firm at an- nexes quotation, but no further transfers have been reported.

TEA MUSTERS. Persons who send Musters of Tea through the Post in Tins are requested to have them made flat or square instead of round, as it is impossible to pack round tins securely in the mail bags. It is believed that the tea will travel more safely in flat tins, which are not so liable as round ones to be bulged in. 4 by 3 by inches is suggested as a good size. The tins should not have sharp corners.
