Commercial.
THIS DAY, FOUR P.M.
The stock of the China Sugar Refining Company, Limiteil, has made another gra- dual advance in public favor. We reported sales of the scrip yesterday at 165 per share, and have now to chronicle the trans- action of further business at 1673, at which rate there are still buyers. Hongkong Fires have been negotiated at 960 per shares, as our remarks in yesterday's ar- ticle indicated would probably be the case. We have also to note the increased firm- ness of China Fire Insurance stock. Yes- terday these shares were freely offered at 200; to-day offers to purchase at that price pass unheeded. Docks remain very firm, with buyers, at 52 per cent, premium for cash, no shares being on the market, how- ever, at that price. The "time" business we reported yesterday, has been supple. mented this forenoon.by very large tran sactions on similar terms-55 for the end of March and 56 for the end of April, several hundreds of shares having heen negotiated on these conditions. Steamboats remain in statu quo; but Hotels are slightly firmer, and we think that if shares were forth- coming good business at par would be transacted. This scrip is, however, in the hands of such a limited number of holders, and is open to influences which cannot very well affect the stock of other companies,
