An extraordinary freak of nature, Thursday reported in one of the London sport
ing journals, may prove interesting
to a section of our readers:--
Breakwater, the dam of John Friday
Davis, and the property of the Mar
den Deer Park Stud, Caterham, | Thursday.
Surrey, fouled a chesnut filly on the
say
25th inst. to Hermit, and the follow- ing letter has been received from Mr. Walker, V.S., of Rugby, the owner of John Davis, "Breakwater foaled a very fine chesnut filly last night, but strange to it has only got one eye. There is not the slightest ves- tige of an eye on the off side; the near one is rather smaller than usual, but I think it can see. It is an ex- traordinary freak of nature; I never saw one like it before. The foal appears perfectly healthy in other respects, and sucks all right."
The British ship Rockhurst went into dock at Kowloon this morming for repairs.
We have to report the death of a Chinese child, a little girl 3 years of age, who resided with her mother- in Ezra Lano T
