In this respect, the Department continued to provide field work training and professional supervision for social work students of both universities. Four well- trained and experienced officers were assigned as student supervisors on full time and part time basis. The two full time student supervisors were each responsible for a unit of 6 students in a District Office while the two part time supervisors were each responsible for two to three students in addition to their other prescribed duties. The two universities use slightly different systems of fieldwork placement. A total of 24 students were attached to this Department for a period of three months on a rotation basis from the Hong Kong University, and 11 students from the Chinese University were attached to the Department for training throughout one academic year.
