The category of 'mentally ill' mainly consists of those referred for aftercare by the Mental Health Service of the Medical and Health Department and is strictly limited.
* Definitions
Blind
Certified by the Government Ophthalmic Specialist to have residual vision of 3/60th or less (metric system) in the better eye after correction.
Mentally defective
Persons with arrested or incomplete development of the mind or subnormal intellec- tual functioning which usually originates during the developmental period.
Severe requiring life-long care
Medium
capable of some training.
Physically Handicapped (General classes)
Mainly persons with loco-motor disability of orthopaedic or neurological origin.
Deaf
Deaf persons with hearing impairment which is of educational, social and occupa- tional significance.
