(i) Scale Al is divided into two sections-Ala and Alв. The section Als will be applied to Chinese female revenue officers at present on salaries of $252 per annum to $300 per annum, notice servers, seamen Classes III and IV, mechanicians Class V, store coolies, furniture workshop coolies, pointsmen, locomotive cleaners, saloon car attendants, platelayers, No. 1 trolleymen, cleansing coolies, rat catchers, rat searchers, malaria bureau coolies, wash amahs, gatekeepers, foresters, gardeners Grade II, senior park-keepers, stokers, meat porters, coffin coolies, boat coolies, and certain boys, cooks and amehs. Both sections of the scale Al will be applicable to coolies, office messengers, cleaners, caretakers, porters, sextons, gatemen, female escorts, female attendants, female searchers, park-keepers, bath-house attendants, gardeners, trolleymen, latrine attendants and bargemen,
(ii) Scale A2 is divided into two sections-A2a and A2B. Section A2A is applicable to stokers Class III, seamen Class 11, sew-arnahs, pressmen Class JJ, and to certain amahs, wash amahs, cooks, boys and ward-boys. Both sections of the scale are applicable to armed guards, watchmen, stone polishers, range wardens, head messengers, tapemen, leading seamen, station attendants, liftmen, lift operators, head survey coolies, addressograph operators, groundsmen, night watchmen, laboratory attendants, mechanicians Class IV, assistant storemen and storernen, packers, keymen, ambulance attendants, boy dressers, grooms, gardeners Grade I, motor mower drivers, bath-house engineers, skilled labourers in the Sanitary Department, steersmer, tallymen, assistant junk coxswairs, foremen in the Government Coaling Depot, health foremen in the New Territories, foremen Grade IV in the Sanitary Department, forestry foremen and certain office attendants, painters, cooks and houseboys. Section A22 is applicable to the head attendant in the Imports and Exports Department, to office attendants on salaries of $252 to $300 per annum, office attendant clerks, assistant head guards, boatmen Class I, stokers Class II, telephone boys, pressmen Class I and certain painters, sailmakers, boys, ward boys, amabs and cooks. (in) Scale A3 will be applied to light attendants, boatswains Class I, engineers Class V. coxswains Class III, head guards, head watchmen, forest guards, drain testers, coxswain-firemen, locomotive firemen, mechanicians Class III, No. 1 and No. 2 carriage cleaners, tracers, assistant headmen, mortuary attendants, assistant armourer attendants, leading gardeners, signalmen, foremen cleansers, artisans and junk coxswains in the Sanitary Department, second forernen in the Forestry and Gardens Departments and certain painters, carpenters, sailmakers and houseboys. (iv) Scale A4 is applicable to motor drivers, motor mechanics, lighthouse mechanics, electricians, No 1 riggers, shunters, fitters, electric welders, moulders, headmen, dental mechanics, disinfecting station engineers, armourer attendants and certain carpenters.

(v) Scale A5 is applicable to foremen Grade III generally and in addition to chargemen, head postmen, assistant ticket printers, ticket collectors, herbarium assistants, foremen tallymen, demnareators, forestry demarcators, building foremen in the Kowloon-Canton Railway at present on $408 per annum, first foremen in the Forestry and Gardens Departments, to the head office- attendants at Government House and the Secretariat, to the hall porter in the Public Works Department and to the No. 2 chauffeur at Government House.
(vi) Scale A6 is applicable to foremen Grade II generally and to electric light and fan inspectors, timekeepers, dredger masters and engineers, divers' foremen, junior meter readers, mechanicians Class I, assistant foremen in the Furniture Workshop, first class machinists, carpenters, fitters, painters, electrical fitters, No. I headmen, signal fitters, trade instructors in the Frison and Reformatory (if not qualified instructors), assistant rodent control overseers, yard mechanics, building toremen in the Kowloon-Canton Railway on $600 to $1,050 per annum, engineers Class I, senior foremen in the Agricultural Department, senior protection officers and second foresters in the Forestry Department, assistant head gardeners and senior foremen in the Gardens Department.
(vii) Scale A7 is applicable to foremen Grade I generally and also to the Chief Motor Mechanic in the Sanitary Department, motor mechanics in the Harbour and Air Services Departments, installation mechanics in the Prisons and Medical Departments, chief engineers Class II, Chinese divers, divers' linesmen, meter readers, foremen in the Furniture Workshop, foremen in the Architectural Office on $720 to $1,320 per annum, custodians of recreation grounds, permanent way sub-inspectors, master tailors, rodent control overseers and head foresters.
(viii) Scale A8 is applicable to overseers generally and also to the Chief Meter Reader, the Head Mechanic in the Fire Brigade, the foremen in the Buildings Ordinance Office on $1,350 to $2,050 per annum and the General Foreman in the Electrical Office, the Running Shed Locomotive Inspector and the Forestry Inspector.
