The Building Industry.
The position remains much as stated in Report No. 2 page 7 and after. It is hoped to be able to lay a proposed system of part time apprenticeship before the Government and the Master Builders at an early date.
A start has however been made by providing an evening course in Practical Carpentry, Drawing and Workshop Arithmetic, confined to boys connected with the Trade. This course should provide useful data for future action. The course has been strongly supported by the Master Builders Association.
(11) FURTHER ACTION.
Before further action can be taken in considering the future of Technical Train- ing in Hong Kong, a decision on the following points is required.
I. Is the scheme for Building & Light Engineering Trade Schools to proceed? IT. If so (a) Will the buildings contain all Technical Training Schools, viz.,
Junior Technical School
Building School
Light Engineering School
Senior School
on one site?
or (b) Will a system of decentralisation be preferred?
III. Will a site or sites be earmarked at an early date to enable a comprehensive
scheme to the submitted?
