FIRE STATION BUILDING.
CONTRACTORS: MESSRS. TROLLOPE & COLLS (FAR EAST) LTD.
2nd Quarterly Report ending 31st December, 1924.
CONTRACT No. 47 of 1924.
Laid before the Legislative Council by Command of His Excellency the Governor on the 26th February, 1925.
Satisfactory progress has been made with this Contract.
The concrete casing to the ground floor stanchions and the reinforced concrete to the first floor are practically completed, the latter however was somewhat delayed towards the end of December owing to the non-delivery of cement.
The wood casing to the second floor was well advanced while that to the third floor had been commenced.
Good progress was made with the preparation of the granite work and about three quarters of the plinth to the building was built.
The brickwork up to the ground floor level and backing to the granite plinth was completed.
Considerable quantities of materials were delivered on the site, but as the available space for storage is limited, a slight congestion has been experienced, with a tendency to hamper building operations. This difficulty will, however, disappear as the building advances.
9th January, 1925.
HAROLD T. CREASY,
Director of Public Works.
