KOWLOON RAILWAY STATION.
REPORT ON PROGRESS UP TO JUNE 30TH, 1914.

Laid before the Legislative Council by Command of His Excellency the Governor, July 30th, 1914.

The contract for building the superstructure commenced on March 1st.
A quarry has been opened at the south face of Beacon Hill Tunnel, and a siding laid thereto, a construction siding has also been laid at Kowloon for the reception of the stone wagons. Rough stone first began to arrive on the site on 7th May, and by the end of May the principal corner stones were laid.
The steelwork was all in the Colony in good time and delivery on the site commenced on the 19th June.
The following materials are on site
Earthenware pipes for drainage.
150,000 bricks.
Hardwood in logs for trusses and door frames.
Sufficient teak has been selected and is under cover at Wanchai.
Six months supply of cement has been arranged for,
Indents have gone to the Crown Agents for all the brass door and window furniture
and wrought iron fencing and collapsible gates.
The actual state of the work is, by reference to the drawings :-*
Granite masonry and brickwork for the Main Building nearly all up to the platform
level. That for the Colonnade to Ferry is partly so.
