The Board do not concur in the recommendation that Mr. Brown, apparently on account of his previous services in another department, should be promoted at once to the grade of 2nd class Inspector of Nuisances, and I agree with the Board. The Committee recommend a uniform rate of $8 a month for each chair coolie. In the Estimates for next year, the rate has been set down at $7.50 a month and I recommend that the latter rate be adopted.
.
Since the Schedule was prepared by the Committee, various changes have taken place which it seems needless to specify. In a great many cases the date of present appointment" is not correctly given, the date from which the officer concerned began to draw his present rate of salary being entered under that heading.
