A visit was paid to each distillery in order to observe the processes used and the quality of the mate- rials. The processes are practically the same in all. The rice in all factories is the cheapest kind, known as Choo Mei; in no case was it unsound. The Chan Pang was of good quality. The factories were kept

in a clean condition.
