SIR, With reference to your letter of 28th ultino, I have the honour to inform that-
1. Nine cases of alcoholism were admitted to hospital during the year 1897. 2. None of these cases showed symptoms of suffering from any other in-
toxicant than alcohol.
3. The condition of the cases was apparently due to the quantity rather than
the quality of the liquor consumed.
4. There were no cases of delirium tremens which were considered to be the
result of a brief period of intoxication.

1. 67 cases with 2 deaths.
2. Cases have been admitted to the Government Civil Hospital during 1897
suffering from the following intoxicant in addition to alcohol:-
i. Datura.
ii. Indian Hemp.
