Between the 17th and 18th at noon the depression at the centre was 0.7 inch below the normal the lowest reading of the barometer being about 29.2. It rapidly filled up after passing near Breaker Point. The central isobars appear to have been very much elongated in a NW and SE direction, they corresponded on an average to the following distances 29.3: 30 miles, 29.4: 130 miles, 29.5: 140 miles, 29.6: 210 miles. Full typhoon force was not attained.
Full typhoon force was not attained. The highest wind forces were regis- tered N of the centre where strong gales blew within 250 miles. Fresh gales blew within 180 East, moderate gales within 250 South and fresh breezes within 200 miles West of the centre. It was rainy within 200 miles of the centre and overcast at much greater distances. There was a high sea within 300 miles.
