Fort, DEFENCES.-The Officer Administering the Government laid on the table a despatch from the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies on the question of the contemplated demand on the Colony for an increased Military Contribution; and addressed the Council.

The Honourable Mr. MACEWEN moved that the third reading be postponed, which was agreed to. ADJOURNMENT.The Council then adjourned till Wednesday, the 19th instant, at 3 P.M.
