Sir,

As promised to the Colonial Secretary, and for the information of the Committee appointed to report on the question of the proposed increase in the Salaries of the Civil Servants of this Colony, I have now the honour to bring before your notice the following particulars shewing the increase of the repl the houses of the typé most frequented by Europeans of moderate mean

Houses at Richmond Terrace, Mosque Terrace, Seymour Terrace, and Robinson Road, which were let a few years ago for $480 a year,

$660 and $720, and those houses which formerly let for $840 cant rented for less than $1,080 to $1,200 a year. And, speaking generany, rentals for all classes of dwelling houses under $1,200 a year have increased at about the same rate.
