I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch, No. 184, of the 1st of June last, reporting on the serious want of water in the Colony during the latter part of May.
I learn with satisfaction the prompt measures that you were able to take to relieve the distress amongst the poorer inhabitants arising from the drought, and the assistance which you received from the Military and Naval Authorities, and from Members of the Civil Community.
