the streams devoted to the exclusive use of the Garrison) is estimated at 80,000 gallons a day during the dry season and nearly double this amount during the two short intermediate seasons following the close of the heavier rains and immediately preceding the latter.
15. In this subsidiary supply are included as tributaries some of the nullahs at present flowing down the opposite valley of Deep Water Bay; but which it is intended to divert into the Wong-nei- ch'ung system by an open catch-water and short tunnel under the dividing ridge at the Stanley gap.
16. The original estimate of the new Waterworks is $620,000. The expenditure up to the 1st of the present month amounted to $173,000. These disbursements include purchase of the boring machinery, tools and appliances for the construction of the tunnel and of the cement received from the Crown Agents, as also all salaries, wages, and cost of installation and administration.
