Sound Equipment/Installations
44.
Eight Cartridge Tape Recording machines, RAPID-Q, were installed in various control rooms and studios. These machines provided higher operational efficiency in linking together talks, interviews, reports, etc.
45.
One integrated control console was built to turn a small studio into a self operating recording studio and also as a slave studio attachable to any one of the continuity or production control rooms.
46.
Two VHF mobile transceivers were installed in two cars and a base station in the Newsroom. The output of the base station was wired to the self recording room as mentioned in paragraph 45 above and also to the Central Control Room for linking to other control rooms. The VHF mobiles were also equipped with hand held transceivers (walkie-talkie) which operated the VHF mobiles as relay stations back to the studio.
47.
A telephone-programme unit was specially designed and built for the self recording room as mentioned in paragraph 45 above. This unit enables the non-technical staff to record messages from the telephone lines and if necessary to put messages on-the-air through the continuity control room.
Television Equipment/Installations
48.
One new Video Tape Recorder, type 1200C, Ampex, was installed by the side of the VTR, type 1200B. Both were wired as independent channels for record and playback and also for on-the-air playback. To back up the new VTR two pre-equalization line sending amplifiers were built. These amplifiers enabled the outputs from two VTR machines to be put on-the-air simultaneously through commercial TV stations.
