News Bulletins
10. Thirteen Hong Kong originated bulletins, supplied by the Government Information Services Newsroom (now situated at Broad- casting House), are broadcast each day. These are supplemented by relays of BBC news from London which are broadcast in both Cantonese and Kuoyu.
News Magazines
11. Topical Events, a daily half hour news magazine programme featuring amplification of local and international news stories continues to be broadcast twice each weekday and Saturday with a single pro- gramme being maintained throughout Sundays and public holidays.
12. Recorded descriptions on such spectacular news events as the fire aboard Seawise University, the former Queen Elizabeth, and the disastrous Jumbo restaurant fire at Aberdeen were rushed back to the studios in time for broadcast the same evening.
13. Local news items are supplemented by overseas material from such sources as the BBC World Service and the Asian Feed of the Voice of America.
Public Affairs
14. An increasing part of the work of the Public Affairs section has been covered by live and recorded outside broadcasts. All major news, ceremonial and cultural events were covered by the section. The swearing in of the new Governor, Sir Murray MACLEHOSE, the visit of H.R.H. The Princess Anne, the official farewell of the outgoing governor Sir David TRENCH, the Queen's Birthday Parade, and almost every other event of importance including all major sports events in Hong Kong, were covered live.
15. Other Public Affairs programmes include:
Talking Point, a forty-five minute discussion in which authorita- tive members of the community are invited to exchange opinions on matters of public interest.
Late Call, a weekly telephone programme featuring live telephone calls from the public whose questions are answered by a variety of speakers in the studio.
