News and Current Events
28. News bulletins are provided by the Government Information Services newsroom and are also relayed from the World Service of the BBC. In addition, the World Service provides 'Radio Newsreel' and 'Outlook' and these, together with other BBC programmes such as 'From our Own Correspondent', 'International Call' and 'Dateline London' provide a very comprehensive coverage of international events. 'Trading Post', which is produced by the Central Office of Information in London deals directly with trade between Britain and Hong Kong. 'Topics' continued to be the principal programme for news about Hong Kong. Two editions were broadcast each weekday, and the 'Topics' team additionally produced a number of special editions devoted to single subjects.
Outside Broadcasts

Despite the advances made by television and the increasingly sophisticated techniques used in the rapid production of newspapers, radio remains unchallenged as the medium through which news can be brought to the public fast. The live broadcast on location is unchal- lenged in this field. With nothing more than a pocket sized recorder or a handy telephone a reporter can be on the air in as little time as it takes to dial the number of the studio.
