Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra of Haydn's oratorio "The Creation'. This was broadcast by Radio Hong Kong together with a specially recorded introductory talk by Antony HOPKINS himself.

40. The weekly 'Recital from the Concert Hall' brought to the microphone both local artists and distinguished visitors. It provided a platform for local musicians and a medium by which distinguished visitors could reach a wider audience. Visiting musicians who broad- cast during the year included John OGDEN, Fou Ts'ONG, Gary GRAFFMANN, Rita STREICH, the Swingle Singers, the Berlin Duo, Takao OKAMURA, the Trio Stradivarius, the Amati Ensemble, the Robert Pikler Chamber Orchestra and Bismillah KHAN. Two concertos by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra were also broadcast from the City Hall.

Opera

41. Each Wednesday evening an entire FM evening transmission was dedicated to the broadcast of a complete opera and during the year more than forty operas were broadcast in their entirety, in addition to a number of major choral works.

Music of Our Time

42. Contemporary music was once again well represented through- out the year with a special series introduced by Bernard LEWIS. This programme attempts to fill the large gap created by the virtual exclusion of 20th century music from local concerts.

Music Magazine

43. This is produced by Clive SIMPSON and like 'Talking about Music' from the BBC in London is broadcast regularly, together with an absorbing series on the fundamentals of music called 'Harmony for the Listener' from the BBC.

44. Finally the musical event of the decade must be noted in the special farewell concert in honour of accompanist Moya REA who left Hong Kong in March 1971 after twenty musical years in Hong Kong as accompanist and performer. Moya REA was Radio Hong Kong's resident accompanist during this time and was seen on the platform at concerts with many international artists.
