advocates of each side of a question were invited to talk authoritatively and responsibly about current matters of concern. Subjects for discus- sion during the year included the advent of the jumbo jet, Cambodia and the Sino-Soviet dispute.
50. 'Enquiry' was a documentary series which examined in depth a matter of contemporary interest by going to those closest to the problem. and obtaining an authoritative account of the issue. Issues examined during the year included the question of the Hong Kong brain drain to Singapore, religious instruction in schools and driving standards in the Colony. Other topics treated perhaps less seriously included 'Home Thoughts from Abroad' where attitudes of expatriates from Britain towards their home country were investigated, an interrupted conversa- tion with a travel agent which had some astringent comments on tourists and the tourist industry, and 'The Missy Problem' which looked into the domestic servant question.
Entertainment and Drama
51. This covers light music, variety, drama and serious music. The light music section started the year well with a guest appearance by the Hong Kong singer Deena WEBSTER on Operation Santa Claus, Radio Hong Kong's annual charity drive. In January, a new series of folk music shows began. Broadcast live from a Hong Kong nightclub in Central District, this series proved successful not only in attracting a number of celebrities but also by unearthing a remarkable folk singing talent among the community.
52. In February, the popular 'Lucky Dip Live' series was revived, with Teddy ROBIN and the Playboys as resident group. Towards the end of the year, one of the most talented Hong Kong vocal and instru- mental groups, the Diaz Brothers, got together with other musicians and recorded a most successful series, and this 'Danny Diaz Show' aroused considerable local interest and is now being made available to other broadcasting stations in the Far East.
53. Another popular series recorded at this time was performed by the Quatro Bravos and consisted mostly of Latin American music. The experiment of live broadcasting from Central District encouraged the light music section to broadcast live a number of international artists on the 'pop' music scene and successful broadcasts were heard from such visitors as the Four Freshmen and O. C. SMITH.
