STAFF

The authorized establishment on 31st March 1969 was 98.

The Director, Mr. D. E. BROOKS, went on annual leave to Great Britain in July, 1968. Whilst in Britain he attended the International Broadcasting Convention held in London in September. During Mr. BROOKS' absence Mr. I. D. KINGSLEY acted as Director, Mr. T. A. BIRCH as Deputy Director and Mr. T. E. JUSON as Controller of English Service.

Mr. I. D. KINGSLEY, Deputy Director, also went to Britain on annual leave in December, 1968 and made a number of official visits to the B.B.C., the International Federation of the Phonographic Industries and the Hong Kong Government Office in London etc., Mr. E. A. FISHER, Secretary, and Mr. G. W. WEEKS, Programme Super- visor, returned from vacation leave in June, 1968. Mr. L. M. P. KAYE, Programme Officer, went on vacation leave in September, 1968 and whilst on leave attended the B.B.C. Television Production Course.

Mr. I. D. KINGSLEY and Mr. TAM Kai-cheong, Assistant Broadcasting Engineer, attended the 5th General Assembly of the Asian Broadcasting Union in November, 1968 in New Delhi, India. Mr. R. W. ROOKE, Programme Supervisor, Topics, went to the United States of America in September, 1968 to participate in the multi-National Journalists Project awarded by the United States Information Service. Mr. MAK Ching-hung, who was appointed Programme Officer (Librarian) in May, 1968, went to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in July, 1968 for attachments to Radio Malaysia and Radio Singapore to study Record Library systems prier to re-organizing Radio Hong Kong's Record Library.

Mr. CHUNG Yen-loong, Programme Supervisor, of the Chinese Service, retired from the Service in December, 1968 after 21 years of service. Miss CHAU Siu-yin, Assistant Programme Officer, resigned in September, 1968 to undertake further study in United Kingdom after being awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship. Mr. Leonard PORT was appointed Programme Officer, Topics, in March, 1969.

On 31st March, 1969, the staff numbered 100, 38 being members of programme sections, the remainder being engaged in executive, clerical and other duties. Con- tributors to the English and Chinese Programme Services numbered approximately 1,500.
