CHINESE MANUFACTURERS' ASSOCIATION EXHIBITION

74. As in previous years Radio Hong Kong built and operated a studio control room centre at the C.M.A. 1968 Exhibition of Hong Kong Products. Because of the pressure of work on the engineering staff the control room plans were less sophisticated than in past years. However the studio was open to the public view and, as in previous years, attracted large crowds.

OUTSIDE BROADCASTS

75. Approximately 45 outside broadcasts take place each month. The Chinese Service extended their area of operations into more rural areas of the Colony during the year and more use was made of the 'Mobile V.H.F. equipment to transmit programme material back to the studio centre. Events such as the opening of the Plover Cove reservoir, a Military Tattoo at Sek Kong Camp and a Chinese Opera performance at Shek O are examples of this type of broadcast, some of which require multiple links between the O.B. point and Mercury House.

STAFF

76. The authorized engineering staff of Cable & Wireless Ltd. for Radio Hong Kong is 75 including provision for the Public Affairs Television Unit when this comes into being.

CONCLUSION

77. I would like to express my appreciation for the hard work and diligence of all members of my staff and those of Cable and Wireless. I am also grateful to the many members of the public who have continued to offer helpful advice and criticism, which is always welcome.
