46. The BBC news magazine 'Radio Newsreel' was also relayed daily and rebroadcast the following morning. Other news programmes, received on tape from the BBC, included ‘Overseas Assignment' which is compiled from the reports of BBC's foreign correspondents, ‘Dateline London' a feature magazine on British affairs and 'Letter from America' by Alistair Cooke.
47. 'Behind the Headlines' is an informed, and often forthright, discussion on world affairs by Hong Kong based correspondents of international newspapers, agencies, and broadcasting organizations. The programme is supplied to a number of overseas broadcasting stations.
48. 'What the Papers Say' is a summary of editorial comment and press reporting extracted from local newspapers, and is broadcast on Friday evenings and repeated the following day.
49. 'International Business Review', a BBC production and 'Indus- trial Charter',-a Radio Hong Kong production, are concerned with accounts of current situations and changing trends in the commercial world and have a particular value to local industrialists and manufac- turers to whom they offer information on potential markets, trade regulations and restrictions, together with news about local and inter- national trade fairs.
50. "The Pearl in Your Hand' continued to attract a wide audience throughout the year. This daily 15 minute programme is broadcast at 8.10 a.m. on weekdays, immediately after the morning news. It is a magazine programme containing all sorts of information about Hong Kong, its shopping facilities, popular venues for swimming and general entertainment, advice to ramblers and so on. The programme is prin- cipally intended for visitors and newcomers to Hong Kong, although much of the programme is also of interest to residents of the Colony. The subjects dealt with include local customs, food, history, popular misconceptions and taboos. There is also topical information about local festivals, where they are held and what they are about.
51. A daily stock market report was broadcast at 7.45 p.m. each evening and gave closing prices and information about both the local and international stock markets. The series came to a halt in December upon the untimely death of the reporter.
52. 'Talking Point', a weekly discussion by a panel of speakers covered a wide range of topics, from the cross harbour tunnel and drug addiction to gambling, social welfare and the British Parliamentary
scene.
