annual leave in August, 1964, and spent much of this period in con- sultation with the B.B.C. and other radio and television concerns. Mr. E. A. FISHER, the Secretary, returned from vacation in November, 1964. During his leave in Britain he spent part of his vacation leave studying the administrative and accounting procedures of television and sound radio, being attached for short periods to the B.B.C. London and to Television Wales and West of England, Cardiff. Mr. R. M. Cordeiro, Producer Class I, returned to Hong Kong in July, 1964 after attending the B.B.C. Overseas Broadcasters Training Course. Mr. G. W. WEEKS, Producer Class I, returned from vacation leave in March, 1965. Mr. CHO Nai-pang, Producer Class I, returned to Hong Kong in July, 1964 on completion of his secondment to the B.B.C. The English Programme Organizer, Mr. T. A. BIRCH, represented Hong Kong at the Second International Conference of Broadcasting Organizations on Sound and Television Schools Broadcasting held in Tokyo on 9th April, 1964. Following the successful attachment of Mr. POON Chan-sin to the Com- merce and Industry Department from 4th May, 1964 to 25th July, 1964, two other Chinese Producers, Messrs. Aaron Lo Sai-ping, and Wyman CHAN were attached to the Social Welfare Department and the Police Department in November, 1964 and March, 1965 respectively. Similar attachments are planned for the future.
75. The following staff changes took place during the year under review:
Resignations:
Mr. J. G. DEARLOVE, Announcer, in September, 1964.
Miss P. I. PENN, Producer Class I, in April, 1965.
Appointments:
Mr. I. M. M. FINLAY was appointed Producer Class I in May, 1964.
Mr. POON Chan-sin was appointed Producer Class II following his return
from secondment to the B.B.C.
Mr. L. M. P. KAYɛ was appointed as an Announcer on transfer from the
Executive Officer grade in September, 1964, vice Mr. J. G. DearLove.
76. On 31st March, 1965, the staff numbered eighty-five, thirty-nine being members of programme sections and the remainder being engaged in executive, clerical and other duties. The technical staff of Cable and Wireless Ltd. employed on broadcasting operations totalled 44. Con- tributors to the English and Chinese Programme Services numbered approximately 1,400.
