'General Cook'
32. Forty-four episodes of this serial were produced during the year. 'General Cook' is a domestic comedy centred around this im- portant member of the family. In addition to recipes and cooking notes the programme contains retail market information and interviews with market stall-holders.
Chinese Uncanny Stories
33. Twenty-six sessions of this programme were recorded from June to August 1962. The programme was broadcast on Wednesdays and Sundays. Ghost stories and weird tales have a high appeal amongst listeners.
'Proverb for Today'
34. A new series 'Proverb for Today' was introduced in March. The readings are selected from both Chinese and Western sayings and are broadcast on weekday mornings.
'Workers' Playtime'
35. This programme is now in its 7th year and to date 110 factories have been visited; a total of 328 sessions of 'Workers' Playtime' have been recorded in industrial centres all over the Colony. The visiting artists usually include singers, comedians, soloists and a dance band. The programme is enthusiastically received by workers to whom it offers an hour or so of entertainment and relaxation during a busy day.
Hong Kong Craftsmen in London
36. Hong Kong sent a group of ten expert craftsmen to London to take part in the Daily Mail Ideal Homes Exhibition. Interviews with them were obtained by a correspondent in London and the recordings were sent back to Radio Hong Kong. These were compiled into a programme including requests for music for the men's families in Hong Kong. The craftsmen were also interviewed on their return after their successful appearance in London.

37. The English Service of Radio Hong Kong is designed to cater for the needs of two distinct groups of listeners. On the one hand there are the expatriate Europeans who, since the majority are British, are used to B.B.C. methods and judge Radio Hong Kong by British
