to different industrial centres to entertain the workers during their meal breaks. More than ninety factories in Hong Kong and Kowloon were visited in this way and many thousands of workers entertained.
44. On June 9th a weekly 'Fishermen's Half Hour' was introduced. This new magazine programme was prepared in conjunction with the Co-operative Development and Fisheries Department. Typical items in each edition were a main topic of the week, actuality recordings re- flecting the life of the fishermen and their families, accounts of interesting and profitable voyages, a 'letter box' answering a variety of questions and the playing of record requests. This programme proved very successful particularly with those concerned with the fishing industry, though it had a general appeal to all listeners.
45. The opening of the 1962 Agricultural Show at Sai Kung on 12th January and the 1962 Fisheries Exhibition at Aberdeen on 4th February were both covered as outside broadcasts. A special request programme session was held at Radio Hong Kong's van at the Fisheries Exhibition ground on February 6th, the second day of the Chinese New Year, and the staff on duty were kept busy playing music for visitors.
Women and Children
46. Two new programmes for women were introduced in September. One was 'General Cook' a dramatic feature reflecting the life and problems of a fictional cook working in an average middle class family in Hong Kong. A good deal of factual material about the purchasing and cooking of local foodstuffs was interwoven with the domestic drama and problems of a Chinese family.
47. A series of six specialized talks for women was given by Medical and Health Officers in connexion with the 'Motherhood Education Week' (15th to 20th May, 1961) which was sponsored by the Women's Section of Tsim Sha Tsui Kaifong Association. From 2nd July to 18th August, another series of 22 talks was presented by the Women's Sections of all Hong Kong and Kowloon Kaifong Welfare Associations to aid their 'Drive for Happy Homes' campaign.
48. 'You are My Love' was a serial feature describing, in a light hearted way, the experiences of a young man on meeting various types of girls. The author strove to indicate some common faults of etiquette. and behaviour which might mar an otherwise serene friendship and the programme was thus educational as well as amusing. A further
