179. Twenty broadcast appeals in Chinese, and twenty two in English were made during the year. In addition six charity concerts in the Chinese Service, produced either by Radio Hong Kong or Rediffusion and broadcast by both organizations, resulted in over $280,000 being raised.
180. I should like to end by recording my thanks to all my staff and those of Cable and Wireless Ltd., who have worked so enthusias- tically to make this year one of the most outstanding in the progress of sound broadcasting in this Colony.
