interest. Radio Hong Kong continued to supply Radio Sarawak and, through it, Radio Sabah in North Borneo, with transcriptions of Kuoyu plays.

Radio Malaya

123. The Deputy Director, Programmes, of Radio Malaya, Mr. David Lyttle, who was Controller of Broadcasting in Hong Kong during 1955/56, visited the Colony and the possibility of Radio Hong Kong supplying regular transcriptions of Cantonese programmes for use by Radio Malaya was discussed. Several special programme projects were exchanged between the two stations..

Nippon Hoso Kyokai

124. NHK. the Japanese national broadcasting corporation, provided excellent facilities for the Radio Hong Kong commentator who attended the Asian Games in Tokyo. In return, information was supplied to NHK on reception conditions in Hong Kong of some of their overseas broadcasts.

Rediffusion

125. Rediffusion continued to relay a considerable number of Radio Hong Kong programmes and in addition joined forces with Radio Hong Kong for several annual charity drive programmes.

Radio Vila Verde

126. Radio Vila Verde again provided technical facilities which made possible coverage of the Macau Grand Prix.

Miscellaneous

127. Transcriptions were broadcast from UNESCO and the United Nations, and several Commonwealth broadcasting organizations con- tributed to the 30th Anniversary programmes.

ELECTION SPEECHES

128. Nine candidates offered themselves for election to the Urban Council in February 1959, and all were offered and accepted time on both English and Chinese Services to present their platforms.
