majority of sports broadcasts in the Chinese Service should also be devoted to 'soccer'. Commentaries were broadcast on all important matches organized by the Hong Kong Football Association, and the Chinese Amateur Athletic Association, in- cluding several played at night under floodlight.
Sports commentator, Lai Duen Po also broadcast a weekly sports round up covering all sporting activities in the Colony.
Once again a commentary was broadcast on the annual cross harbour race. The commentator was stationed on a Marine Department launch and was able to follow the race from 'Big Splash' to Finish. His account was relayed by Cable and Wireless V.H.F. link to Electra House for simultaneous rebroad- cast.
For Younger Listeners
40. In partnership with the Jaycees an inter-school quiz series was organized on an elimination basis, with fourteen schools competing. The first round began on 25th January and at the end of the year the series still had several weeks to run.
The Winning stories in the Young People's Story Competition sponsored by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service were broadcast in July. Several story-books published by the Council were also used in the Children's Programme. The winning plays of the Inter-School Drama Competition sponsored by the Education Department were adapted for broadcasting.
Two Children's programmes were broadcast every week by Miss Chan Chui Yuk. These included stories, riddles, and children's percussion bands. A radio play for children was produced once a month.
Relations with other Radio Organizations
41. In addition to daily relays of B.B.C. news in Cantonese and Kuoyu, the General Election results and programmes on the BIF were also relayed.
