33. The second series of new programmes started in January and is without much doubt the only version of the well known parlour game "Twenty Questions" to be broadcast in Cantonese anywhere in the world! There was some resistance to this programme at first both by the people asked to take part and by listeners. The idea was new, and many listeners, parti- cularly older people, said quite openly that grown men and women did not take part in such childish pastimes. However, "Twenty Questions" now has a very large following. The team is composed entirely of teen-agers and more emphasis is placed on the educational value of the programme than in the English version.

34. The three story tellers maintained their popularity during the year with stories on General Ngok Fei of the Sung Dynasty, romantic and chivalrous stories of the Ching Dynasty and tales from the Ching Dynasty novel "Eye-Witness Account of the Curious Events of the Past 20 Years" by Ng Chuen Yan.

Modern stories were broadcast in dramatized form by amateur groups, the scripts being written by the leaders of the groups from the popular tales and detective stories.

35. Women listeners were catered for by a weekly pro- gramme in Cantonese and Kuoyu and the Education Department sponsored a weekly series of talks which dealt with the history of Hong Kong and its Governors and with developments in the Colony in the early part of the century. Talks were also given on the territories visited by H.M. the Queen and H.R.H. Princess Magaret.

36. Mention is made elsewhere of the great assistance given to both English and Chinese sections by the British Council.

37. In the field of Government, social and cultural activities, talks and features were produced on the Colony's budget, the Housing Bill, the water supply situation, the 12th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products, the fisheries and agricul- tural exhibitions, the Social Welfare Exhibition, the opening
